Events During Late Spring in the Derbyshire Peak District


The Derbyshire Peak District is centrally located in the heart of England; the National Park which encompasses the Peak District is one of most visited of all the National Parks in the United Kingdom. Due to the Derbyshire Peak District location and unique geographical diversity it is an ideal holiday destination for people and families who want to experience a truly rural location and the great British outdoors.The Peak District National Park is also popular with many people who are also looking for a holiday destination which offers a variety of outdoor activities and pastimes. This fabulous three-day festival from May 18 - 20 set in the picturesque village of Edale. There is host of new and old Folk musician talent on offer, with a traditional Celtic Ceilidh in the Friday evening.The 2012 Derbyshire Food & Drink FairThis years Derbyshire Food & Drink Fair is taking place at Hardwick Hall during May 26 - 27. The Food & Drink Fair will have over 150 stalls showcasing a wide range of local produce from around the Derbyshire Peak District and beyond. The celebrity chef Simon Rimmer will be one of the chefs demonstrating in the cookery theatre. There will also be activities for children to participate and enjoy, as well as the opportunity for visitors to explore the b eautiful house and gardens of the magnificent Hardwick Hall.The London 2012: Olympic torch visiting the Derbyshire Peak DistrictThe Olympic torch relay is arriving in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District at the village of Glapwell on June 29, while it makes its way around the United Kingdom. Other places on the Olympic flame route will include Bolsover, Calow, Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne and the regal Chatsworth House, which is famous as Pemberley, the residence of Mr Darcy in BBC's adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Visitors are encouraged to welcome the runners carrying the Olympic flame as they pass through the Derbyshire countryside.These are just a few of the exiting forthcoming events to add to your holiday itinerary which are taking place in the Derbyshire's Peak District National Park.
