FACES: The Official Signed Limited Edition Book by Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones

/faces/

The Faces were quite simply one of the finest rock groups ever to emerge from Britain. Rising from the ashes of The Small Faces, it was a band that blended some of the most talented musicians of the era Ronnie Wood and Lane, Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones and Rod Stewart to create a swaggering, booze-fuelled, funk-filled, blues-rock that was sublime on record and incomparable live.

Faces is the first book ever published by the band and features original text by Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones along with over 200 photographs charting the band from its formation in late 1969 to its eventual demise in 1975.

Limited to 1,975 copies worldwide, each copy is signed by Kenney Jones, Ian McLagan and Ronnie Wood.

ONE OF BRITAIN'S GREATEST CONTRIBUTIONS TO ROCK'N'ROLL, THE FACES' BRAND OF PUB SWAGGER HAD THE RIGHT COMBINATION OF GRIT, CHARM, MISCHIEF, SOUL, STYLE AND WICKED SENSE OF HUMOUR, TO MAKE THEM ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC BANDS OF ALL TIME.

 Slash, from his Foreword

The photographs, sourced from renowned rock and roll photographers from all over the world, as well as the band's own personal archives, are a stunning mixture of the iconic and never-before-seen. They capture the chaotic intensity of the Faces' career: the incendiary live shows, the on-stage laughs and off-stage high-lives, the private jets, groupies, drink, drugs, clothes, haircuts and Holiday Inns.

THE FACES HAVE GOT SOUL IN ABUNDANCE.

 Glen Matlock, from his Foreword

WE PLAYED HARD AND FAST. IT WAS A HELL OF A FOUR-PIECE, AND THERE WERE NO RULES. WE WERE DRIVING EACH OTHER AND THE ARRANGEMENTS GOT MORE AND MORE COMPLEX. THERE'D BE CHANGES OF TEMPO IN THE MIDDLE OF A SONG AND THINGS LIKE THAT WOULD KEEP YOU AWAKE, AND MADE THE MUSIC MUCH MORE INTERESTING. WE WERE BETTER THAN ANY OTHER BAND!

-IAN MCLAGAN

I HAD A LONG SLIDE GUITAR SOLO AND I USED TO PLAY TRIBUTES TO ALL KINDS OF MUSIC: THE STONES, DELANEY & BONNIE, BLUES, JAZZ AND A LITTLE BIT OF THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER... THEY WERE SET PIECES FOR ME, AND KENNEY USED TO DO A DRUM SOLO AS WELL. EVERYONE ELSE WOULD GO TO THE TOILET OR HAVE A DRINK AND A FAG.

- RONNIE WOOD

WE GAVE THE IMPRESSION, WHICH WAS TRUE, THAT THE FANS COULD COME ON STAGE AT ANY TIME WITH US AND WE COULD JUMP OFF STAGE AND BE WITH THEM. SO WHEN WE PLAYED A GIG IT WAS LIKE A GIANT PARTY; THERE WAS A GREAT ATMOSPHERE

- KENNEY JONES

Forewords by Slash, Mick Hucknall and Glen Matlock. Introduction by Brad Tolinski, editor of Guitar World Magazine. Afterword by Paul Westerberg.
